Thailand Privilege for Families: Costs for Couples and Kids
September 23, 2026
in Living Abroad, Thailand, Visa & Immigration
Reading Time: 10 mins read
Tags: long stay ThailandThailand Elite visa

As of September 2026, Next Member is running a limited-time promotion: add-on members for Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve are all THB 750,000 per person, with the promotion extended to September 30, 2026.

So the math for a family isn’t “buy one membership, the whole family uses it” — it’s calculated member by member. This article lays out, side by side, which tiers Next Member applies to, the current promotional price, family budgeting, document requirements, and other family long-stay routes such as LTR and DTV.

What Is Next Member: Only Three Tiers Allow Adding Family Members

Of Thailand Privilege’s current five main membership tiers, only the following three have Next Member:

Membership Main Member Price Membership Term Next Member Standard Price/Person September 2026 Promo Price/Person
Platinum THB 1,500,000 10 years THB 1,000,000 THB 750,000
Diamond THB 2,500,000 15 years THB 1,500,000 THB 750,000
Reserve THB 5,000,000 20 years THB 2,000,000 THB 750,000

The current Next Member promotion is extended to September 30, 2026.

In other words, this promotion doesn’t permanently change Next Member’s pricing to a uniform THB 750,000 — during the promotional period, add-on members across all three eligible tiers are calculated at THB 750,000 per person.

The discount is especially notable for Diamond and Reserve: the standard Next Member price was originally THB 1,500,000 and THB 2,000,000 respectively, both now reduced to THB 750,000.

Bronze and Gold do not have the same Next Member mechanism. If a couple both want Thailand Privilege and choose Gold, they would typically each apply for their own Gold membership separately, rather than joining as a main member plus an add-on member.

Which Family Members Can Be a Next Member?

Under current information, eligible family relationships can include:

  • spouse;
  • a partner who meets the relevant rules;
  • parents;
  • children;
  • legally adopted children, and so on.

The family relationship must be proven with documentation, such as a marriage certificate, birth certificate, or other applicable proof of relationship.

Platinum’s official positioning itself includes families, retirees, and LGBTQIA+ partners among its target members, but whether someone can actually join as a Next Member still depends on the applicant’s specific family relationship and review under the rules in effect at the time.

How Much Does It Actually Cost for a Family?

Let’s start with the most common tier, Platinum.

As of September 30, 2026, the Next Member promotional price is THB 750,000 per person, so:

Family Combination Calculation Total Membership Cost
Couple \ Platinum Main member 1,500,000 + Next Member 750,000
Couple + 1 child \ Platinum 1,500,000 + 750,000 × 2
Couple + 2 children \ Platinum 1,500,000 + 750,000 × 3
Couple \ Gold, for comparison Gold 900,000 × 2

For example, a couple choosing Platinum currently pays a total of THB 2,250,000 during the promotional period; adding one child brings it to THB 3,000,000.

Without this promotion, calculated at Platinum’s standard Next Member price of THB 1,000,000 per person, the same two family combinations would originally require THB 2,500,000 and THB 3,500,000 respectively.

However, you can’t compare total price alone here.

Gold is a 5-year membership, Platinum is a 10-year membership, and the Next Member mechanism, Privilege Points, and member benefits also differ. So “a couple each buying Gold is cheaper than Platinum + Next Member” is only a price fact — it doesn’t mean Gold is necessarily more suitable for a family.

What really needs comparing is:

Number of family members + how long you need to stay + which member services you want to use + total budget.

If you’re comparing Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve, or want to work out the best plan for your family size, ask Zagdim.

How Much Do Diamond and Reserve Families Save Under This Promotion?

This promotion has a bigger impact on families choosing higher-tier memberships.

Assuming a couple:

  • Diamond: main member THB 2,500,000 + Next Member THB 750,000, total THB 3,250,000
  • Reserve: main member THB 5,000,000 + Next Member THB 750,000, total THB 5,750,000

Adding one more child adds another THB 750,000 to each.

So for families already planning to choose Diamond or Reserve, this promotion substantially lowers the marginal cost of adding family members.

But whether it’s worth upgrading a tier because of this still depends on the membership term and the service content, not just the Next Member discount.

What Visa Do Family Members Get?

Thailand Privilege membership comes with the Privilege Entry Visa (PE Visa).

The basic structure under the official membership agreement is:

  • the PE Visa is valid for 5 years;
  • multiple entry;
  • each entry grants a stay of up to 1 year;
  • a stay extension can be arranged when conditions are met.

Note that the membership term and the PE Visa’s own 5-year validity are not the same thing.

For example, Platinum is a 10-year membership, Diamond is 15 years, and Reserve is 20 years, but the PE Visa itself operates in 5-year segments. So longer-term memberships involve subsequent PE Visa arrangements, handled per Thailand Privilege’s procedures at the relevant time.

Next Member is likewise an independent family add-on membership status, not simply attached under the main member’s passport.

What Documents Are Needed for a Family Application?

The official application documents typically include:

  • consent form and application form;
  • passport copy;
  • copy of any existing Thai visa / most recent entry stamp (if applicable);
  • passport-spec high-resolution photo;
  • proof of the family relationship, such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate;
  • other supporting documents required based on the family relationship.

If the applicant is under 20, the application documents must be signed by a legal representative.

The most common issue in family applications usually isn’t the main member themselves, but whether the relationship documents clearly prove the relationship between the Next Member and the main member — so it’s best to have the full documentation chain in order before formal submission.

Does Every Family Member Have to Pass the Eligibility Review?

Yes.

Next Member status doesn’t automatically get approved for other family members just because the main member is approved.

Thailand Privilege’s eligibility system uses negative-list review; the exclusions listed in the application document include certain imprisonment sentences, arrest warrants, deportation records, bankruptcy or liquidation, and money laundering or financial crime, among others.

Membership is also subject to a company written-approval system.

So when a family of three applies, each of the three applicants’ identity and documents still need to be checked separately — it isn’t just the main member who is reviewed.

After approval, the membership fee must also be paid within the deadline stated in the approval letter; missing the deadline can result in automatic revocation of the approval. Membership payments are non-refundable, so you should confirm the membership tier, number of family members, and applicable price before making the formal payment.

Not Every Family Member Necessarily Needs to Buy Thailand Privilege

This is the step most worth calculating first in family planning.

A family staying long-term in Thailand doesn’t mean everyone has to go through the same visa route.

Besides Thailand Privilege Next Member, family routes such as LTR and DTV can also be compared alongside it.

LTR

LTR is a 10-year long-term resident visa administered by Thailand’s BOI, structured as 5+5 years.

Eligible dependents are mainly:

  • spouse;
  • children under 20.

BOI has announced plans to expand LTR dependent eligibility (including parents and other qualifying relatives) and remove the fixed numeric cap, though the effective date awaits a further Ministry of Interior announcement. The previously cited “up to 4 dependents per main applicant” limit no longer appears in BOI’s current dependents documentation — check BOI’s latest announcement for the cap in effect when you apply. Dependents must themselves also meet the corresponding financial security requirements.

So if the main applicant already meets the threshold for one of the LTR categories, the family may not need to spend several million baht on Thailand Privilege first.

DTV

DTV likewise has a dependent category.

The DTV main applicant’s:

  • spouse;
  • children under 20,

can each apply under dependent status.

DTV is a 5-year multiple-entry visa, with a maximum stay of 180 days per entry, extendable once as provided by regulation.

Its cost is on an entirely different scale from Thailand Privilege, but the stay structure, application purpose, and how it’s used also differ.

Thailand Privilege Next Member

Next Member’s advantage isn’t “cheapest” — it’s that its family scope is relatively different, and it’s bundled with the long-term memberships and member services of Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve.

This is especially true when the family includes parents, or when the family doesn’t meet LTR’s or DTV’s dependent definitions — Privilege’s family structure is worth checking on its own.

So the three systems can’t be chosen based solely on “which visa is cheaper.”

The more practical question is:

How many people are in your family, what their relationships to each other are, their ages, who qualifies as the main applicant, and how long you plan to stay in Thailand.

If you’re unsure whether your family should go with Thailand Privilege, LTR, or DTV, ask Zagdim to compare the routes based on family members, ages, stay plans, and budget.

Common Misunderstandings

Misunderstanding 1: “Any Thailand Privilege Tier Lets You Add Family.”

Not true. Next Member is only available on Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve; Bronze and Gold do not have the same family add-on member mechanism.

Misunderstanding 2: “Buy One Thailand Privilege, and the Whole Family Can Use It.”

Not true. Next Member is priced per person, and each family member has their own membership and application process. As of September 30, 2026, the Next Member promotional price for Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve is THB 750,000 per person each.

Misunderstanding 3: “Next Member Is Now Permanently THB 750,000.”

Not true. THB 750,000 per person is the current limited-time promotional price, extended to September 30, 2026. The standard prices remain: Platinum: THB 1,000,000 per person; Diamond: THB 1,500,000 per person; Reserve: THB 2,000,000 per person. Whether the promotion is extended again, a new promotion introduced, or standard pricing restored after September 30 depends on the arrangement in effect at that time.

Misunderstanding 4: “Only Spouses and Children Count as Family Members.”

Not entirely. Thailand Privilege’s current family mechanism can include eligible relationships such as spouses, partners meeting the relevant rules, parents, children, and legally adopted children; the actual application requires submitting the corresponding proof of relationship.

Misunderstanding 5: “Once the Main Member Is Approved, Family Members Are Automatically Approved Too.”

Not true. Family members likewise need to submit application materials and undergo eligibility review — Next Member status is not an automatic extension of the main member’s status.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: How Much Does It Cost Now to Bring a Spouse and Children on Thailand Privilege?

As of September 30, 2026, the Next Member promotional price for Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve is THB 750,000 per person each. Taking Platinum as an example: main member: THB 1,500,000; spouse: THB 750,000; one child: THB 750,000. A couple totals THB 2,250,000; a couple plus one child totals THB 3,000,000.

Q2: Can Bronze or Gold Add a Next Member?

They cannot use the same Next Member add-on mechanism. Next Member is currently only available on Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve.

Q3: Can Parents Apply for Thailand Privilege Together?

This can be checked. The current family relationship scope includes parents, but the corresponding proof of relationship must be submitted, and the outcome is subject to the rules in effect at the time of application and the review result.

Q4: What Documents Does a Family Application Need?

Generally includes the application form and consent form, passport copy, photo, copy of any existing Thai visa / most recent entry stamp (if applicable), and proof of family relationship such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate. Applicants under 20 must have the documents signed by a legal representative.

Q5: What Visa Does the Family Get?

Thailand Privilege membership comes with the PE Visa. Its basic structure is 5-year multiple entry, with each entry permitting a stay of up to 1 year, extendable as provided by regulation. The membership itself may be 10, 15, or 20 years, so the membership term and the PE Visa’s 5-year visa cycle need to be understood separately.

Q6: Until When Does the Next Member THB 750,000 Promotion Run?

The current promotion is extended to September 30, 2026. During the promotional period, Next Member for Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve is THB 750,000 per person each. Pricing and arrangements after the deadline are subject to the latest rules in effect at that time.

Q7: If I Don’t Want to Pay Next Member for Every Family Member, What Other Options Are There?

You can check LTR and DTV as well. LTR’s family dependents are mainly spouses and children under 20; DTV likewise has a dependent category for spouses and children under 20. Which route is more suitable depends on the main applicant’s eligibility, family relationships, stay pattern, and budget — it’s not recommended to choose based on visa price alone.
