The Dubai Land Department (DLD) is launching a “Rent Now, Pay Later” scheme, developed with a local bank, that will let tenants spread annual rent payments over up to 12 months without interest, coming into effect in September.
Under the mechanism, a tenant selects a residential property, and the participating bank pays the landlord the full annual rent upfront; the tenant then repays the bank in instalments over up to 12 months at zero interest — meaning landlords still get paid in full at the start of the tenancy, while tenants avoid the lump-sum burden. Eligibility requirements and the finer details of applications, financing and repayments — and the exact relationship between tenants, landlords and the bank — are still being finalised and are expected to be announced at the scheme’s official launch.
If it proceeds as described, Dubai would become the first city to build such a mechanism into an integrated element of its rental market policy. The scheme expands on DLD’s “Flexi Rent” initiative, launched on 23 June 2026, which already lets tenants choose monthly, quarterly or semi-annual instalments alongside a range of incentives from participating banks and other entities — part of a broader push by Dubai’s leadership toward more flexible, accessible housing solutions.
