The UK housing market showed early signs of stabilising in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) August 2026 survey, Reuters reported on 10 September. Buyer demand and agreed sales indicators had moved away from recent lows, although the recovery remained fragile.
The net balance for new buyer enquiries, reflecting changes over the previous month, rose to −19, its highest since January. The house price balance, covering changes over the previous three months, improved to −28 from July’s revised −29. These are survey net balances, rather than percentage changes in prices or enquiry volumes.
For overseas buyers assessing UK property, demand indicators remaining below zero provide important context. The figures suggest an easing slowdown, but do not establish a broad recovery in house prices.
