October brings an opportunity to keep a commemorative banknote at face value. The Bank of Thailand (BOT) will reopen exchanges for two Queen Sirikit commemorative notes from 1 October 2026, in denominations of THB100 and THB500. The two notes have different exchange locations: the THB500 note is available only at the BOT Learning Centre on specified dates.

Exchanging the maximum of 20 notes in each denomination would total THB12,000 at face value. This is the personal limit; the number available still depends on stock at the venue.
Where to go for the note you want
THB100: check a participating bank branch
For the THB100 note, you can check a Government Savings Bank branch or whether your nearby Krungthai Bank branch appears on the designated list. Both bank routes open from 1 October, while supplies last. Government Savings Bank offers the exchange at all branches; only designated Krungthai Bank branches participate.
At the BOT Learning Centre, the THB100 exchange runs on 1–4 October and every Friday to Sunday during October. Match your visit to those dates.
THB500: use the Learning Centre’s specified dates
The THB500 note is available only at the BOT Learning Centre on specified dates in October. Check the dates in the notice; the bank branches listed above do not offer this denomination.
If you live outside Bangkok or need to set aside time for the trip, confirm the exchange schedule and latest availability. An October exchange window does not mean the note is available there every day of the month.
A small record of its time
The THB100 note was issued in 2004 for Queen Sirikit’s 72nd birthday; the THB500 note followed in 2016 for her 84th birthday. A commemorative note preserves a particular occasion on paper. Years later, its design and date may bring that period to mind. Such small traces of time can be part of the appeal of collecting.
Avoid a wasted trip
– Not every Krungthai Bank branch participates. Only designated branches offer the THB100 note; check the list attached to the notice.
– Bank branches do not offer the THB500 note. It is available only at the BOT Learning Centre on specified dates.
– The right date does not guarantee availability. Stock is limited at every venue. Twenty notes is the personal cap, not an assurance of supply.
– Face-value exchange does not guarantee a future gain. The notice sets no resale price and makes no promise of appreciation.
