Australia’s June-quarter housing data showed a concurrent fall in combined-capital house and unit prices. ABC News, citing Domain’s House Price Report, reported a 1.4% quarterly fall in combined-capital house prices and a 1.2% fall in unit prices. ABC said it was the first combined fall in house and unit prices in more than three years.
The result was not uniform across capital cities, ABC reported. Separately, Reuters reported on 28 July that Sydney and Melbourne house prices had fallen nearly 5% so far in 2026, and attributed a 14% year-on-year fall in June mortgage enquiries to Equifax. Taken together, the two dated reports point to cooling conditions, while the city-level variation reported by ABC remains part of the picture.
