The Shenzhen Qianhai Authority announced adjustments on 24 July to its subsidised rental housing policy for Hong Kong talent, according to HKTDC Research. Under the revised unit-allocation standards, an applicant’s parents, parents-in-law, and children aged 18 or above may now be included as co-applicants, but they will not be counted toward household size when the authority determines the size of an allocated unit.
The eligibility requirements specify that the applicant, their spouse, any children under 18, and other co-applicants must not own residential property in Shenzhen, and must not currently benefit from any other preferential housing-security policy in the city.
The competent authorities may notify a tenant’s employer in writing and unilaterally terminate the tenancy — recovering the unit — if the tenant fails to pay rent or related fees for two consecutive months or a cumulative six months without justifiable reason; sublets, exchanges or lends the housing without authorisation; uses the unit for commercial purposes; alters its approved use without authorisation; causes serious damage through intentional acts or gross negligence; or commits other unlawful acts or contractual breaches.
