Canada’s permanent residence pathways for Hong Kong residents closed on 31 August 2026 and are no longer accepting new applications, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirms. Applications accepted on or before that date will continue to be processed.
The closure covers both streams: Stream A for graduates in Canada and Stream B for applicants with Canadian work experience.
IRCC’s page still links to an open work permit option for eligible applicants waiting for a permanent residence decision. Eligibility must be checked separately; the link does not mean an existing permit is automatically extended.
