The UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has published a list of 100 universities whose graduates are eligible to apply for the Abu Dhabi Golden Visa under the scheme’s “University Graduates” category. To qualify through this pathway, an applicant must hold a degree from a university on the ministry’s list of the world’s top 100 institutions.
The list spans North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America, and includes several institutions with direct relevance to Zagdim readers in Hong Kong and Taiwan: the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, and National Taiwan University all appear on the qualifying list, alongside familiar names such as Oxford, Cambridge, MIT, Stanford and the National University of Singapore.
The University Graduates category sits alongside the Golden Visa’s other main routes — including a separately reported set of eight “rare specialisations/exceptional talent” categories covering doctors, scientists, inventors, creatives, executives, athletes, PhD holders and specialists in priority scientific and engineering fields.
For a graduate of one of the 100 listed universities, the practical takeaway is that the degree itself — not employment, investment, or property purchase in the UAE — is the qualifying criterion under this specific pathway; other Golden Visa eligibility rules (income, sponsorship, or investment thresholds under different categories) are unaffected by this list.
