Change and Refund Rules for Saver, Value and Flex Fares

Booking Steps and Payment Methods

Every Etihad Rail train requires a reservation — you cannot board without a valid ticket. There are four ways to buy tickets:

1. Etihad Rail app (iOS/Android): the operator says the app is the fastest way to book and offers the full range of fare types, lets you pre-select a seat, and lets you manage bookings and receive real-time notifications.
2. The website, etihadrail.ae: similar functionality to the app; you can book as a guest without registering an account.

• E-tickets: open the e-ticket on your phone and scan the QR code at the gate to enter — no printing required, though a paper copy can also be printed at a ticket machine if you prefer.
• Arrival time: the operator recommends arriving 10 to 20 minutes early (the Passenger Charter states at least 20 minutes). Gates close 2 minutes before departure, after which the platform cannot be accessed.

1. Total door-to-door time, not just the journey itself: the train’s 64 minutes is station to station. On the Dubai side, add the time to reach Al Yalayis Station (metro plus walking, or driving); on the Abu Dhabi side, add the connection time from MBZ City Station to your destination. The further your destination is from the station, the larger this connection time becomes as a share of the total.
2. Whether the timetable fits your schedule: services are currently concentrated in the morning and evening, suiting typical commuting hours; trips departing at midday or late at night may not fit the train timetable.
3. Flexibility and cancellation cost: driving or taking a bus lets you change your time at short notice; a train Saver ticket cannot be changed or refunded, so if you want to keep flexibility, choose Value or Flex, which also changes the cost.
4. Luggage and number of travelers: for one person with up to two cabin-sized bags, the train is relatively simple; for large luggage, multiple travelers, or bringing a bicycle, driving may be more convenient.
